Introducing Mount’s new mascot

Mount students react to a new face representing the school.
Introducing Mount’s new mascot

Last Thursday, the MSJA administration had a meeting regarding our mascot. The Mount’s athletic teams have always been represented by “Magic”, but as of last afternoon, school leadership decided to change that.

“We put a lot of consideration into this, it’ll represent Mounties for generations to come.” Says Ms. Beren.

“Mount Muskrats” was voted most favorable by administrators and notable athletic alumni. How is the school community reacting to this change?

“What even is a muskrat? That’s weird. We should’ve just kept magic.” Says Lola, a senior and student athlete at MSJA.

Many students were disappointed about the selection process, arguing that they should’ve had a larger role in choosing their mascot. Nevertheless, this is an exciting change within the school! Student council has placed orders for new Muskrat uniforms, a mascot suit, and several banners.

“There’s no way I’m wearing a uniform with a rodent on it. I might quit basketball.” Said another student, who preferred to remain anonymous.

Students and community members, what are your thoughts on the Muskrats? Let us know in the comments…and happy April Fool’s Day!
