Style Secrets: Mount’s Most Fashion-Forward Educators

Have you ever wondered about teacher’s beauty tips and tricks? Read on to find out.

Mrs. King

English teacher Mrs. Katherine King is known for her preppy and trendy style, channeling her inner fashion guru when teaching “The Great Gatsby.”

“I like things that look crisp, you know, like, I love a good blazer. I like a nice button shirt. I want to look fashionable, yet my age,” Mrs. King said.

She shared how the most important element in her fashion is aesthetic, and how she likes to elevate her cute clothing with accessories.

“Sometimes I design an outfit around the accessories. Like, if I have a new pair of shoes or a new pair of earrings, I’ll pull them out and say, ‘Alright, well, what can I wear with this?’ You have to pick something, make it the star of the show, and then kind of dress around that like that,” Mrs. King said.

Ms. Beren

Dean of Student Life Ms. Gina Beren can be recognized easily by her iconic slick-back bun.

When asked on how she achieves her look, Ms. Beren said: “Just wet it and then slick it back and a little bit of hairspray,” Ms. Beren said.

It takes her about 5 minutes to do her hair in the morning using Tresemme or Aussie products.

“It’s just easy for me. But I’ve been told like, I’m intimidating when I have my hair like this,” Ms. Beren said.

“I love it because it reminds me of friends and where I’m from,” Señora Hoffman said.

Mr. Nardini

History teacher Mr. Anthony Nardini is known for his hoop earrings and cute boots when teaching in his room.

“My lady boots make me feel confident,” Mr. Nardini said.

He shared how he likes to find a balance between formal and casual and how he tries not to repeat outfits.

“I typically like, I like certain ties. I mean, I always feel confident in the classroom,” Mr. Nardini said.

Ms. Slaughter

“I would say less is more. I would recommend to stick to, like maybe five products. The more you apply, the longer it’s gonna take, and then I feel like it’s takes longer to actually blend. Yeah? So I would say, keep it simple.”

Student Life Program Coordinator, Ms. Mae Slaughter, is one of the most fashionable people in the whole school. With her fashionable sweaters and outfits, she has beauty tips to give and shared her favorite lip products.

“Yeah, I would say, oh, remember Fridays Lip Butter balm. I also like the Dior lip balm in the color cherry too. I think it’s shade 15. Yeah, it’s the lip glow bomb. I love Dior. Yeah, they have such good look. I love it.”

Ms. Slaughter also shared how she keeps her makeup last all day.

“I would say a good setting powder. I use the Easy Bake. I use the pink one because I have cooler undertones,” Ms. Slaughter said.
