What is Charity Day?
From a talent show, to a series of engaging games, the Mount is known to host Charity Day, which Mounties across decades love. This article takes a look back onto the pictorial history of Charity Day, which has always emphasized community.
Beginning in 1987, the Mount has annually hosted Charity Day, the culminating event of Spirit Week, remembered for its ability to bring students together, while also showcasing hidden talents.
“Every year the Mount holds Charity Day in honor of those battling AIDS, Breast Cancer, Leukemia, and other numerous sickness. The money we raise goes toward a chosen organization that either works for a cure to a specific ailment or makes the public more aware of a humanitarian cause,” states the Mount’s 2000 Yearbook, which really places an emphasis on the Day’s mission.
It is way for students to work together to raise money for a specific charity with a worthy cause, with Charity Day being a celebration of the collective effort.
Picturing the Past
Looking back at the Mount’s yearbooks, it’s clear that Charity Day has been an event full of excitement for decades.
Charity has held tight to its roots, as it always provides a unique sense of sisterhood and unity, as portrayed in the photos. What really ties it together, however, is the combination of Mountains laughter, smiles, and the warm memories that are created every year.
