Hearing the roar of excitement from both new and returning clubs echoing down the science wing, freshmen entered the gym on September 12th during advisory. They began signing up for extra-curricular activities that will form their experiences as Mounties with both excitement and frenzy.
“The mathletes is run by Ms. Phelan, I run the PAML. We work with the same groups of kids. What we love most about it is having these kids work through challenging math questions and achieving high scores, and publishing those achievements,” Mr. Naydan, an honors algebra and precalculus teacher, said.
“We’re excited to get started and help local charities,” Kate Dorrington ‘26 said.
With a selection of over 50 clubs, Mounties embrace new opportunities and co-curriculars.
“I’m most excited for pickleball, and I joined Morgan’s Message,” Molly Dwyer ‘28 said.
The production club is open to all grades, allowing everyone to have a place where they can learn and have hands-on experience with film production.
“I’m so excited to showcase my creativity and come together with my classmates to create a movie,” Arianna Phoenix ‘27 said.
While sophomores appreciated the excitement, they noted that it felt more chaotic than the previous year.
“This year I could not intake information, it was really overstimulating,” Grace McMonagle ‘27 said.
“It was kind of overwhelming with all the clubs, but like overall I found a bunch of great clubs to join and it was really helpful,” Molly Dwyer ‘28 said.
Offering unique insight as a Mountie herself and bringing a new perspective, Miss Maria Cilio organized and executed the 2024-2025 club fair.
“The activities fair this year was exciting because our students got a taste of every co-curricular they can take part in during their Mount experience. I think we have room to grow, but ultimately I heard positive feedback, particularly from Freshman that said they had a lot of fun. It was wonderful to see the camaraderie of the Mounties during the event.” Miss Cilio, Co-Curricular Coordinator said.
