At Mount, the senior silly ID photo tradition heralds the start of a new academic year with a burst of laughter and creativity. This annual event invites seniors to step out of their comfort zones and express themselves through a dazzling array of accessories, from colorful wigs to quirky hats and outlandish props. It is a delightful way for students to embrace the lighter side of school life as they prepare for their final year.

Senior ID photos can also be used for manifesting positive energy in the new school year. “I feel like it really encapsulates the energy I wanted to bring into senior year,” said Kate Bole ‘25 when asked about her sheep suit.

Seniors expressed their personalities through both their accessories and their facial expressions. “I am doing a fish face because I’m wearing a pink squid hat with a tiara on top,” said Chloe Murphy ‘25.

Seniors especially enjoyed watching the reactions of the photography staff when they first saw the senior class’ wacky looks.

Some senior ID photos can even be flattering! “I feel like I look better in my senior ID photo than in my actual senior portrait,” said Kaelyn McFadden ‘25.

Quirky ID photos are a beloved senior privilege and many hope they will make a return to the yearbook this year.

For many, the senior ID photos, taken on the first day of classes, are something they have looked forward to since freshman year. “It was full circle because I used to have a bob, and now I’m graduating high school, and the bob is back,” said Katie Lamb ‘25, who wore the iconic purple wig.
