Mae Slaughter, the Assistant to the Dean of Students and Student Life Coordinator for the past year and a half, is a universally loved faculty member amongst all students.
When Ms. Slaughter isn’t working at Mount you can find her spending free time cooking, making Pinterest boards, doing self care, hanging out with friends and going on girl trips. Traveling is a thing she loves to do and Jamaica is one of her favorite destinations. She loves to watch “Dreamgirls” with Beyoncé and enjoys watching “Law and Order SVU.”
A person’s aura is only a testament to who they want to be perceived as and showing positive traits, and it is what Ms.Slaughter is known for. Her smile is infectious and she always has the best outfits.
“She’s beautiful inside and out,” Elizabeth Vasquez’ 25 said. Beautiful on the inside and out, Ms. Slaughter takes on life’s challenges with poise and alluring, emoting a sense of security to all students and faculty.
“Every student feels so welcomed around her. She is amazing, I love her sense of style, her office is so aesthetic. She’s just that girl, and she’s so sweet. I love how she always has candy,” Chloe Murphy ‘25 said.
Unwinding at night, you can find her on Pinterest or doing a skin care routine to look her best. Sweets are her weakness and when she indulges it is with a strawberry bundt cake from “Nothing but Bundt Cakes” or eating blueberries from Trader Joe’s.
“I think Ms. Slaughter is very nice, chill, and is the person you can always go to if you need anything,” Chloe Wilson ‘27 said.
Music is a staple in her everyday life recently listening to Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Mariah the scientist and Beyoncé. Beyoncé is her favorite artist as she has seen Beyoncé in concert three times.
“I think Ms.Slaughter is very personable. Whenever I walk into her office there is always good music, good smell and she is always happy to see me. She has a welcoming personality,” Sophia Benamar ‘26 said.
Someone who is personable is able to connect with all types of people without any hesitation, creating a lively and professional environment. Ms. Slaughter is one of the kindest people ever with a soft voice and caring heart to touch everyone’s soul near and dear to their hearts.
