Members of the National Art Honor Society currently have work featured in the Woodmere Art Muesem’s KIDS CARE Exhibit, showcased from November 16th through December 15th, with a free reception on Saturday, December 14th.
After the reception, the pieces will be wrapped and donated by the organization MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) as holiday gifts for people homebound with chronic illnesses. This partnership between the Woodmere Art Museum, MANNA, and schools in the Philadelphia area provides children with the opportunity to engage with their community and demonstrate just how much they care.
“I thought it was important to spread joy and create art that everyone can enjoy,” Ella Lin ‘26 said.
The theme this year is “My Favorite Place,” with pieces ranging from colorful landscapes to a cozy bookshelf. Students are able to share glimpses into their own lives to impact the lives of people in their community.
“The prompt being that you’re sharing your favorite place might have a different correlation to who you’re sharing it with, which can mean something different but also beautiful for them,” Michelle John ‘25 said.
This is the National Art Honor Society’s second year participating in this exhibit.
“I think their exhibit aligns really well with our mission because the artwork goes to the chronically ill and the homebound, and the Mount girls are so great at kind of, giving of themselves to others. To give of your art is a big ask, but it’s always nice that the kids do it,” Ms. Hamilton, moderator of NAHS, said.
