Emergency responders were quick to contain the blaze and they were doing what they could to help. The community is now coming together to support those affected by the disaster.

“I live in the one mile radius of the fire and when it broke out on Monday night I could see it from my bedroom window and I could hear the helicopters…scared for the people in my town…grateful for the firefighters,” Ella Williams ’25 said.

“Honestly, it was pretty scary– I was scared for my health, so I was holding my breath going out to my car” Grace Daly ’25 said.

“The fire was at the bottom of my street and we had to shelter-in-place and all the fire trucks were coming down my street so we couldn’t really leave” Mary Kate Martin ’25 said.

“My mom and brother who attend Ancillae Assumption Academy have not been in school on Tuesday and Wednesday, lots of schools in Glenside are not able to function” Molly Chipman ’25 said.
“I was at first scared because I heard a bunch of fire trucks passing by, then came the helicopters, and I was really really nervous. Then, my dad got a call, and it was at SPS, and he wasn’t there because he was there that morning and works there every day. And, I was so grateful he wasn’t there and he was safe, I’m so thankful for the firefighters and first responders.” Delaney Wertz ’25 said.
