With a new perspective and passion for education, Mr. Grysinski (or as his students call him, “Mr. G.”) has brought innovative methods of teaching to the classroom throughout his first year here at Mount.
Before joining the Mount faculty, Mr. G. worked as a 6-8th grade teacher for four years at the Depaul Catholic school in Germantown. Since being homeschooled with his brothers until 10th grade, he believes that it gives him a different way to look and go about educating. His teaching style consists of project based learning as well as allowing students to showcase their talents through creative activities.
“I grew up with very different approaches to learning. So by the time I got to high school, I had done everything everyone else had done, but just done it in a very different way. So I kind of bring that approach to my teaching,” Mr. Grysinski said.

“I had Mr. G. and his class was great. I liked how we watched the play of “Twelfth Night,” Quinn Gorniak ‘28 said.
As for in-class activities, he most enjoys the writing process and teaching students that it doesn’t have to be as scary and intimidating as it may seem. He shows students that as long as you take it piece by piece and create a plan, you can write about whatever you want.
“Mr. G. has been a wonderful addition to Mount’s English department. He is passionate about education, extremely well-read, as you can tell by his impressive book collection, humble, and eager to grow in his discipline. We are very lucky to have him,” English Department Chair, Mrs. Mary Ellen Crowe said.
When he is not teaching the freshman class of Introduction to Writing and Literature, he enjoys many hobbies such as playing the piano and cello, reading (specifically the genre of horror), going on hikes, and taking classes in a Brazilian martial art form.

In addition to these hobbies, he likes to travel. His favorite destination so far is the Grand Canyon claiming, “Yeah, it was a lot of fun, ’cause it’s just, it’s incredible!”
When asked what is one thing he would tell his younger self in high school, he responded with, “… that it’s okay to not know what you want to do yet in life. It’ll find you.”
Not only is Mr. G embarking on his first year here at Mount, but back at home he and his wife are expecting their first child in the middle of March. He mentioned how they chose to keep the gender a surprise, and that he is beyond excited to be a new parent. He later jokes about going back and forth between feeling overjoyed, and being completely terrified to enter this new role and chapter of his life.
“Mr. G is my advisor. He’s really nice and advisory is always really fun. He always brings donuts,” Lizzie Buckley ‘27 said.
Mr. Grysinski’s classroom is not only a place with fun lights and posters hanging from the ceiling, but a place where mounties can grow, explore, and gain confidence in their writing and knowledge of literature.
