The film is an emotional coming-of-age drama which explores a complicated relationship between a mother and daughter trying to navigate life, grief, and love.
“I love a good romantic movie so I loved how it went from like sadness of death to joy” Stella Bradfield ‘26 said.
With attention spans shrinking in the age of constant scrolling, many teens struggle to stay focused during long films.
However, Regretting You managed to keep the audiences off their phones. Stella continues her thoughts, “I thought that Regretting You was a beautiful movie, I thought that we needed more movies that would keep us engaged and this was the movie that did that” said Bradfield.
On the other hand, many Mounties believe that the film was below the expectations that social media and the trailer presented.
“I thought that it was a good film, but I feel like by the trailer you could tell exactly what was going to happen,” Tierney Wertz ‘28 said.
Despite these spoilers, many students still found themselves shocked by the film’s intensity.
“Every single second there was a plot twist…” Anna Gieb ‘28 said.
Similarly, Regretting You includes unexpected moments filled with lies and secrets. Mounties were asked what they thought about the romantic scandals throughout the story.
“I really liked Jonah and the Mom’s relationship because I felt like we got all the flashbacks from younger years…he really liked her since high school” Nina Kephart ‘26 said.
The soundtrack was loved by many. Featuring popular songs by Noah Kahan and Gracie Abrams, ROLE MODEL, and more. Mount students said the soundtrack made the movie more enjoyable.
“I think the soundtrack was really good and all the songs were really relatable to the younger audience…like an audio visual experience” Kaitlyn Cockerham ‘26 said.
Even though there was positive and negative feedback there was a mutual enjoyment of the film Regretting You throughout the Mount cafeteria.
