Running her hardest around the Ott Center track, Annie crossed the finish line and began to cry. However, Annie Seminack ‘27 doesn’t cry for the reason you would think. She cries when she beats her personal record.

Through years of consistent effort and steady improvement, Annie Seminack has built a reputation as one of Mount’s most dependable and influential athletes. Her dedication to growth has not only elevated her own performance but has also inspired those around her to push themselves further.

Beginning her freshman year as a varsity cross-country runner on Mount’s cross-country team, she soon found her spot as a key contributor and leader who led the team to states that fall of 2023. The team placed fourth overall which proved their hard work and commitment truly paid off.

“Annie’s my biggest motivator and has honestly pushed me to where I am today,” teammate Sarah Hock ‘26 said.

Before long, Annie’s commitment and effort were rewarded with the opportunity to become captain of the cross-country team as a sophomore.

“Being a captain was a big step, but it helped me to really lock in and encouraged me to be the best leader I could,”  Seminack said.

Annie also participates in indoor and outdoor track which she enjoys almost as much as cross-country. She runs the 800, 1-mile, and occasionally the 3,200. Her preferred event is the 1-mile because, as she says, “It’s not too short, it’s not too long, it’s just right.”

Seminack’s leadership extends beyond race results, influencing the culture and resilience of her entire team.

Annie enjoys a Shirley Temple after a long day at the beach.

“She brings out the best in her teammates by not letting them get down on themselves, but helping them to stay positive for the next race,” Coach Kitty McClernand said.

Some of Annie’s awards include the Cross-Country Coaches Award, Indoor Track Coaches Award, and the Track & Field Leadership Award. One thing Annie has mastered is being consistent. Her consistency and hard work have been highlighted through multiple consistency awards, and she has continually been named First Team ACAA in both cross country and track.

When Annie’s not on the move, you can find her to be spending time with her dog Penny, making healthy snacks at Goodness Bowls, or listening to Taylor Swift. Her favorite place is Sea Isle City N.J., where she tans all day long.

Annie’s tears when she crosses the finish line aren’t just about personal victories, they reflect the heart and determination she brings to every race. She serves as the perfect example of a leader, and demonstrates her belief in never giving up.
