The bell above the bakery door hasn’t even rung yet, but Taylor Vogel is already moving.
It is just after 6 a.m. in Avalon, New Jersey, and she is setting up for the morning rush, sliding trays into place and helping prepare for the first customers. While most people are still asleep, Taylor is already halfway through her day.
Later, she will head to the track.
At Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Taylor balances track, soccer, school and a part-time job. Her schedule is busy, but she has gotten used to it.
On the track, her effort is easy to see.
Whether it is a tough workout or the end of a race, Taylor keeps pushing. Her teammates say she is someone who works hard every day and does not give up easily.
“Taylor is super motivational, always putting in hard work at practice and coming back from injuries even better than she started,” Cecilia Esbensen ’27 said.
That effort shows most at the end of practice, when others are slowing down and Taylor is still finishing strong.

For Taylor, track is not just about winning. It is something that helps her stay focused and keep improving.
She brings that same mindset to soccer.
“Taylor is the kind of teammate who sets the tone for everyone around her, whether it is on the track or on the soccer field,” Charlotte Felix ’27 said.
No matter which sport she is playing, Taylor gives the same level of effort.
But her teammates say what stands out most is how she treats people.
“She’s one of the kindest people I know,” Charlotte Cole ’27 said. “She always makes an effort to include everyone and support others.”
That support can be small, like encouraging someone before a race or helping a teammate during practice.
Balancing two sports, school and a job is not easy. During the school year, Taylor spends her time going from classes to practices to games. In the summer, she continues working and training.
After early mornings at the bakery, Taylor still finds time to work out and stay ready for the season.
Taylor hopes to compete at the college level one day, and she knows that takes a lot of work.
For now, she just keeps showing up.
Whether she is at practice, at school or at work, Taylor stays consistent, working hard and supporting the people around her.
