At 4pm, September 20th, 9 students boarded the Mount van which Mr. Bates drove to St. Joseph’s University for the “Nuns on the Bus” event. The nuns and activists engaged in meaningful discussions with students about social justice topics and how to vote morally in the election.
Katie Westmoreland ‘25, Sophia Benamar ‘26, Morgan Cross ‘26, Fiona Corr ‘27, Audrey Di Siro ‘27, Maiah Acker ‘27, Mia Dezzi ‘27, Molly D’Intino’27, Natalie Peddicord ‘28, boarded the Mount van as Mr. Charlie Bates drove them to St. Joseph’s University to attend the “Nuns on the Bus” event founded by Sister Simone Campell.
As the students pulled into St. Joe’s, they were gladly greated with the bus in which the nuns take to visit over 20 states in 3 weeks under the organization Network. Network believes in spreading social justice and gospel values. At the events, the nuns speak about their knowledge on this year’s election and how to vote in a moral manner.
“Network helped me realize what love looks like in action.”, Said Sister Erin McDonald, who has been volunteering for and helping with Network since 2013.

Molly D’Intino, Fiona Corr, Audrey Di Siro, Katie Westmoreland, and Natalie Peddicord along with other students sit in a shaded area on St. Joe’s campus to talk and teach each other about the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia and creatively cover what will be chatted about during the event and what the organization Network really is.
“Network supports under seen people and helps them.”, said Sister Maureen Conclin who has worked with Network for 6 years.
Sister Erin McDonald shares her views on how to “vote with conscience” and morals before introducing six activists, some of which are nuns, who work with Network. The six speakers shared the six freedoms to consider when voting. After putting together their opinions on what they learned, the students headed outside and got the privilege to sign their names on the bus in which the nuns drive in during their tour.
“I got to see different perspectives of other people’s views on the upcoming election and I really learned how it can ask to tie back to faith”, Morgan Cross ‘26 said after the event.
After the event, Katie Westmoreland, Natalie Peddicord, Molly D’Intino, Audrey Di Siro ,Fiona Corr, Maiah Acker, Mia Dezzi, Sophia Benamar, Morgan Cross, and Mr. Bates stopped at Chick-Fil-A, which they ate on the bus ride home while talking about the event.
“I learned a lot more about what’s going on in the world and took into account both sides of what’s going on in politic”, Fiona Corr ‘27 said.
