With more than 250,000 visitors attending each year, the Philadelphia Flower Show has become one of the largest and most famous indoor flower shows in the world. Bright colors, the scent of fresh flowers, and detailed garden displays fill the Pennsylvania Convention Center each spring as visitors walk through creative exhibits and interactive displays.

The Philadelphia Flower Show has been a tradition since 1829, making it the oldest and longest-running horticultural event in the United States. Each year, designers and gardeners create themed exhibits that attract visitors from across the country. This year’s displays featured colorful arrangements, tropical plants, butterflies, and artistic garden designs that gave visitors a chance to experience nature in a unique way.
Many people enjoy the Flower Show because it feels different from a regular garden or arboretum.

Math teacher Ms. Wagner said she enjoys the event because of the creativity behind each exhibit. “It’s very beautiful,” she said, explaining that the combination of flowers, lighting, and designs creates a cheerful atmosphere that makes visitors feel relaxed and inspired.
Visitors often describe the show as exciting and memorable. Anna Oberdoerster, ’27, said the Flower Show was “super colorful” and enjoyed seeing so many different kinds of flowers in one place.
She explained that walking through the exhibits felt immersive because every display had different colors, textures, and themes.
Some exhibits stand out more than others. Sydney Warren, ’28, said her favorite part was “the butterflies and all of the flowers.” She said watching butterflies fly around the displays made the exhibit feel peaceful and interactive.

Many visitors stopped to take photos and spend extra time in the butterfly exhibit because it felt like stepping into a different environment.
The Flower Show also brings people together year after year. Families, students, and tourists attend the event as a tradition each spring. Some Mount students said they would recommend the show to others because it offers a break from everyday routines and gives people a chance to enjoy art and nature together.

Beyond its colorful displays, the Philadelphia Flower Show remains important because it combines creativity, gardening, and community into one experience. The event continues to attract large crowds each year by offering visitors something they cannot easily find elsewhere: massive indoor gardens, award-winning floral designs, and immersive exhibits that celebrate nature in a memorable way.
