Prom season has arrived, and with it, all of the usual conflicts that face Mounties: dates, dresses, prepics, and, the most harrowing of all, promposals.

Promposals, though routine at many public schools, promposals have created both excitement and anxiety among private school students in the area this season.
Some people believe that promposals are inherently romantic, and should be reserved for couples.
“If they’re done as personal moments or if you just did something and then your girlfriend comes up to you and promposing to you and it adds to the moment they can be really cute.”

“I feel like you have to be very in a relationship, but I do love promposals and I think they are needed a lot more than they are,” Kate Bole ‘25 said.
However, in public schools across the country, promposals are considered a necessary part of asking a date to prom.
“Everyone did them at my old school, but it wasn’t a romantic thing,” Ava Brinkerhoff ‘25 said.
Of those who have been promposed to, they remain fans.
“I loved making a sign and picking something that I knew was just gonna be shared between me and my partner. It was a great way to show my love through performing,” Sofia Romano ‘25 said.
