Mr. Ryan Steffe is a recent addition to the Mount’s faculty and serves as the new business and technology teacher. Having to enter this school in the middle of the academic year is not something that usually takes place. Due to these circumstances, Mr. Steffe’s presence has brought much curiosity into the community with many Mounties wondering who he really is.
Growing up in Gilbertsville, PA with his parents and two sisters, Mr. Steffe attended West Chester University for his undergraduate degree and graduated in 2023. He began as a math major with a statistics concentration, but later he switched to an economics major and enjoyed the business side of things. With some time passed, Mr. Steffe went back to school to get his master’s degree in business analytics at Notre Dame University, which he reported was a great experience.
“Mr. Steffe is a really great teacher,” Madi McErlean ‘26 said. “He’s very understanding, kind, and a great addition to the Mount community.
Before joining the Mount’s staff, Steffe worked assisting students with their resumes. He also held positions at a software services company and an investment firm and previously taught at West Catholic. Steffe said he always knew he wanted to teach at some point in his career, which eventually led him to his current role at Mount Saint Joseph Academy.

Spending time with friends and family, his faith, and sports are just some of the things Mr. Steffe values in life. Outside of school, you might find Mr. Steffe at Planet Fitness or watching basketball, although he would prefer to play himself. He also loves to golf with his friends when the weather is nice and is excited for the upcoming warm seasons.
“My relationship with God is really, really important, and there’s so much room to improve,” Mr. Steffe said. “I’m always trying to be who God calls me to be.”
One factor that comes with starting a new position in the middle of the school year is adapting to unexpected challenges. Steffe teaches AP Microeconomics, Investment Management, Accounting and Marketing. Fortunately, some of his classes began with new units. However, he began teaching AP Microeconomics in the middle of the marking period, meaning there was significant content to cover.
“Mr. Steffe has brought many gifts to the Mount. He has made such a positive impact already, especially by upping the game for the students in the data analytics challenge and in his classes. I am so happy to have him as the newest member of the Business and Technology department,” Department Chair, Business and Technology teacher Mrs. Margaret Toth said.
Despite these hurdles that needed to be overcome, Mr. Steffe has been greatly enjoying his experience at the Mount so far. He remarks that the students and the faculty are one of the best parts of this school, and he believes that the people truly make a difference to the community.
Teaching students and helping them grow in their skills academically and interpersonally is a goal Mr. Steffe strives to achieve. Along the way he has learned that it is okay to try different things as a teacher, which is something he has taken away from his experience at the Mount so far.
“Mr. Steffe has really helped my AP Micro class get back on track after our teacher left, and I think he’s been a really great addition to the Mount,” Kate Dorrington ‘26 said.
Overall, Mr. Ryan Steffe exerts himself with an understanding and agreeable personality that is important to recognize as you walk along the halls at the Mount. He yearns for students to be confident in themselves as they approach each day, and he stresses the importance of asking questions because it is a vital part of learning.

“The things you worry about today you’re not going to worry about in a week, the things you worry about in a week you’re not going to worry about in a month, and the things you worry about in a month, you’re not going to worry about in a year,” Mr. Steffe said.
This advice highlighted by Mr. Steffe shows that he is someone who is supportive, and he urges students to have faith in themselves throughout everything that they do. So far in the school year, Mr. Steffe has been having a lovely time at the Mount. Feel free to stop by his classroom whenever you get the chance to meet him, and if you are lucky enough maybe he will even share some of his hidden piano skills with you.
